Full backup
Every field, not just the CSV columns — a complete file ready to restore on a new device. This device is the only place this data exists, so keep a copy somewhere safe.
Import from spreadsheet
Bring in an existing NCR spreadsheet as a CSV. This is different from Restore above — a CSV can have any column layout, so you'll match its columns to RootLog's fields before anything is saved.
Or pull the raw register out directly.
Data on this device
Everything logged here is saved to this browser only — it isn't sent to a server. Export a CSV before clearing if you want to keep a copy.
Privacy notice
What data RootLog collects, and where it goes
Everything you log — events, root causes, corrective actions, cost figures, any supplier name, and owner initials, employee number, or owner email you choose to enter — is stored only in this browser's local storage, on this device. RootLog deliberately asks for owner initials and employee number rather than a full name, to keep exposure of personal data to a minimum. RootLog has no server, no database, and no account system, so there is nowhere else for this to go. Nobody but someone using this same browser on this same device can see it.
Third parties
Google Fonts — this page loads typefaces from Google's font service, which may log your IP address as a normal part of serving that file. No other data is shared with Google.
Email (the "Chase" buttons) — these open your own device's email app with a message pre-filled. RootLog does not send this email itself and never sees your email account or its contents; that happens entirely within your own mail app and provider.
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies, and no other third-party scripts are used.
Your control over this data
Export — the Export tab lets you download everything as a CSV at any time.
Delete — "Clear all data on this device" in the Export tab permanently erases everything RootLog has stored in this browser. Because nothing is held anywhere else, that erasure is complete — there's no separate copy on a server to also ask us to delete.
If this changes
RootLog is currently in beta. If a future version introduces optional shared or cloud storage — for multi-user use, for example — this notice will be updated first, and moving your data off-device will always be something you choose, not something that happens automatically.
